Advocacy

The AMSA Global Health Network (GHN) is committed to becoming a strong advocate for social justice and health.
The GHN has a working party dedicated to forming position statements on global health issues. The GHN is a committee of the Australian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) and a position statement must be ratified by AMSA Council in order to become official policy. And policy is the foundation of action – in the medical student community and beyond!

AMSA Global Health Committee National Advocacy Campaign Bid

Beginning in 2011 the AMSA Global Health Committee (AGH) would like to strengthen its advocacy on global health issues. Our vision is for a passionate team of students to lead Global Health Groups in a sustained commitment to advocacy on an issue of global health importance, in order to advance social justice and global health and for medical students, to be empowered through this process, as advocates for social justice and health. The selected bid team will have the opportunity to lead Australia’s Global Health Groups (GHG) in an national advocacy campaign lasting a minimum of two years. We are now calling for group applications for the bid team. The advocacy campaign should be based on an existing AMSA policy: climate change and health; global health in medical curricula; the millenium development goals; and health and human rights.

See below for further information and the relevant AMSA policies. If you have any queries, please contact Nick Watts at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Applications close May 26, 2011.
